Services

Four ways we can work together. Pick the sector closest to your own, then read how each way of working meets one problem from that world.

Service one

Consulting

We help write the starting question, learn from each group and turn what people said into ideas you can test quickly and cheaply.

An example

Imagine your agency wants more families to keep SNAP and Medicaid. Nobody there agrees on what the priority is. We help you settle on one starting question, then invite clients, front line staff, operations and leadership to answer it. Your team reads the results beside us. You end up with a short presentation, a worksheet of the ideas people raised and a plan to test what was learned within days or weeks.

An example

Consider a company where checking an AI agent's work is eating the week. Engineers, reviewers, product managers and leadership each name a different cause. We help you settle on one starting question, then put it to all four groups. Your team reads the answers beside us. You are left holding a short presentation, a worksheet of the ideas people raised and a plan to try them within days or weeks.

An example

Say that nobody can tell how well the money is being used. Grantees, program officers, finance staff and trustees each hold a different idea. We help you agree on one starting question, then put it to all four groups. Your team reads the answers beside us. You are left holding a short presentation, a worksheet of the insights people shared and a plan to test them within days or weeks.

Service two

Embedded

We join one of your projects for its whole run, working as part of your team rather than beside it. The method moves across as we go, so it stays with you.

The same problem, from inside

Suppose that keeping SNAP and Medicaid is part of a 12 month effort. We attend the meetings, lead the sprint retros, do strategic work and the research. Together, your team focuses on the right problem and uses the necessary data to understand and make measurable change.

The same problem, from inside

Think of one month of work on that agent problem. We sit in the standups, lead the retros, do the strategic work and the research. Your team stays on one question rather than four. It holds the evidence it needs to act.

The same problem, from inside

Take one month of work on the reporting trouble. We join the group for the whole stretch, in the meetings and in the drafting. We do the research and the strategy alongside program staff. Your team keeps the main problem in front of it and gathers evidence before the form is rewritten.

Service three

The Interviewer

Our automated interviewer provides reach, speed and rigor to learn from each group you feel experiences the problem and has insights to share about how best to respond effectively. People are involved in checking it has worked at each stage.

More about the research

Everyone at once

You could invite every client in your state experiencing SNAP and Medicaid. Perhaps you want to expand those insights to every stakeholder: community partners, call center staff, philanthropies, state and local agencies whose work overlaps with yours. Everyone you can contact is able to take part. Every stakeholder touching this complex problem you could learn from within a week. This includes how they experience it, ways they might work around it and other ideas you can test days after the results land in your inbox.

Everyone at once

Now take every engineer, reviewer and product manager who has shipped with an agent this quarter, along with the leadership who set the policy. Everyone you can contact is able to take part. Within a week you learn how they describe the checking work, how they respond to it today and which ideas they would try next.

Everyone at once

Turn to every grantee who filed a report last year, plus program officers, finance staff and trustees. Everyone you can contact is able to take part. Within a week you learn what reporting costs them, how they work around it today and which changes they would try next.

Service four

Coaching

You and your team pick up this work by doing it on a problem you already carry. This is our lightest touch, because we serve as a guide while you do the work. We shape the starting question with you, stay beside you while you gather what each group has to say and help you make sense of what comes back. If your team wants formal training as well, we can provide it, always in service of your learning and response to the right problem. Our tools are open source and free, so the practice stays with you.

The method and its limits

The problem is where the learning happens

Picture a team inside your agency that already owns the renewal backlog. That work is where the practice begins. We guide from beside them rather than run it. We shape the starting question with them, stay with them while they gather what clients and front line staff have to say and help them make sense of the answers. If formal training would help, we can provide it, always tied to the backlog they are already carrying. The team keeps the method, our documented process and the open tools after we leave.

The problem is where the learning happens

Start with the product team that already owns the agent review queue. That work is where the practice begins. We guide from beside them rather than run it. We shape the starting question with them, stay with them while they gather what engineers and reviewers have to say and help them make sense of the answers. If formal training would help, we can provide it, always tied to the review queue they are already carrying. The method and a playbook stay with them.

The problem is where the learning happens

Begin with the program staff who already carry the reporting trouble. We shape the starting question to learn more about the problem with them, then stay while they gather what grantees and finance staff have to say. We then help them make sense of the answers. If formal training would help, we can provide it, always tied to their reporting responsibilities. We document the method and process for them to continue using.

A Blend

Projects can mix the four above, shaped by your problem and needs. Which mix may be clearer, while we are chatting the first time.
